Creed - 1B

Chapter 1B

Jeremy coming to a sudden halt, perspiration dripping down the sides of his temples, he doubled over and vomited onto the ground. Cierra turning around to see what the problem was, knelt down quickly in front of him, surprised at the sight.
“Are you alright?” she inquired.
“Yah, just not used to all of this running. How do you do it?”
Spitting a bit of saliva from the corner of his mouth after saying this, then standing himself back up, praying that he wouldn’t show his guts to the world once more.
“I used to take a jog every morning before work, you never exercise?”
“I did but it just kind of stopped. I was always swamped with work so exercising had to take a backseat.”
“That’s understandable it was always like that back then, always in a rush to get everywhere never stopping to smell the roses, just rushing through life.”
Coming to the beginning of a dirt road, they began to follow its course seeing as it was the direction they were headed. The cracks of dried mud, and occasional gaping hole were small obstacles at best to the chasm that spanned several meters in front of them. On the opposite side of the chasm was the gate of Signet City, looming overhead a green broken sign on the left saying
“Welcome to Signet City
The liveliest place on the earth
Population: 7200”
“How are we going to get across?” asked Jeremy after he had looked downwards into the chasm which just opened up into the earth.
“We have to get across it’s the only way to Signet City.” replied Cierra
“Hold on”, Jeremy said.
Cierra listening to him grabbed onto his waist and held on to him. Pulling a small, flat rectangular square out of his pocket he placed it on the ground in front of him. As soon as it had touched the ground, a blue light shot out of the center of it. The light itself seemed to grow, and expend with every passing second and engulfed them both in a matter of seconds. The moment they had been engulfed completely, their bodies seemed to dissolve out of existence, and re-materialize on the other side of the chasm.
When they re-materialized the light from the blue rectangle faded completely, and all that was left was a thin, piece of rectangular metal.
Closing her eyes as the breath was taken out of her, she ran to her right quickly, and vomited onto the nearby bushes. Jeremy standing over her like a watchful protector said,
“Not used to teleporting I see...” a grin on his face while saying this.
Straightening herself up, she wiped the spit off of the corner of her mouth,
“Shut up, and let’s go”, were the only replies to his smart comment.
Both of them stopping as they get to the gate, Cierra drawing in a sharp breath taking in what used to be a city, now just rows and rows of leveled building, and desolate land.  Even though there was a lot of wreckage there were many makeshift shafts around the city some homes, some selling things to travelers, seldom they may be. At the center of the desolate metropolis was one building, two stories high, it had people going in and out of it seeming to be the center of the used to be great city.
“I think we should start our search there” Jeremy stated plainly, pointing to the big building in the center.
“Alright, let’s do it.” Responded Cierra.
Making their way down the old familiar roads of what used to be, they saw the vast amount of destruction that had taken place in so little time.
“I wonder what happened exactly...” Cierra pondered aloud.
“Countless acts of murder, and devastation no doubt.” Jeremy replied.
Continuing to walk through the city, after about half an hour they reached the base of the building in the center. Over a large sliding door hung a sign that couldn’t be read because of being weathered so bad. Both of them turning their heads to look at each other seemed to let off a mutual sigh before heading into the building that loomed over top of them.
As they entered the building, they heard the metallic click of the door that seemed to only echo off of what was a seemingly empty building.
“I can’t see anything…” Jeremy seemed to state plainly
“Me neither, it’s so dark. I can’t even see my hand in front of my face.” Cierra replied, her voice shrill with anticipation.
After what seemed to be hours in the absolute darkness, the lights were shut on, as if God himself seemed to be smiling down on them.
“What the—“was all Cierra got out before her body slumped to the ground, sleeping the sleep of the dead.

Writers Block but Poem Flourish?

Hey, so haven't had much progress in the story, I just seem to have writer's block I guess I'm stuck where I'm at in the story like a scared animal in a corner... So I found a poem I wrote for a friend a couple months ago. She liked it (whether she was lying to spare my feelings eh..), if you look at the first letter of every stanza it spells her name, so I thought that was kind of cool! I think that's called an acrostic, don't quote me on that though..

Meeting such a pure face,
Innocence abound with
A laugh that makes even angels
Cry with its unimaginable beauty.

Even with a,
Heart so warm and,
So full of life.
The splendor of her
Passion speaks to
Those long lost.

Gripping onto the,
Fringes of society she
Paves her own route
Blazing a trail that makes everyone
Watch and stare.

And eyes that,
Brim with love,
Hiding also the secret pain of,
Mistrust.

Not listening to the,
Voices of the crowd,
She changes the world each
Day, and speaks
A truth that strikes every heart.
Crafted by the divine, she embodies
Near perfection.

Unjust Misery

So I was at school today, and I was just watching people at lunch just something I like to do, people watching we all do it occasionally. So while I was doing it, and listening to the conversations going on and where people were sitting, and just body language in general. I saw that even in a small school like mine, people are ostracized from different "cliques" if you will. It just.. was insane how people shun at least one person from a conversation, or just ignore them in general...

Downcast, and broken,
Always outspoken.
We feel the pain,
And lap it, like a dog to rain.
Knowing how things will always be,
Because of our unjust misery.

Welcome!

Well... I'm kind of new at this so I'll just start this off by saying a bit about myself!
I created this to put my writings down on, maybe get some feedback as well, and just try to get myself out there a bit. Hopefully you all like my writings as much as I like writing them. I write anything varying from poems, to short stories, to possible future novels. So here's the first part to something I'm writing and I most certainly do love criticism of all sorts.
Creed

Chapter 1A
Sweat glistened on his forehead, the run had exhausted him to the point of fainting, and the mental stress drove him almost to insanity, almost. Cierra ran up belong side him. She seemed fine, except for the distraught look on her face.
“Did they make it?” asked Jeremy.
“No. They were overtaken before they got half way across the field an-…”
Her body began to shake violently, her knees buckled below her, as she hit the ground sobbing.
“Oh the screams!” she wailed. “I couldn’t help them, they were too far away and some were coming for me.”
Jeremy sitting on the ground beside her, he put his arms around her shoulders, and gently pulled her towards him. She clasped her hands around his neck, the sobs continuing to wrack her body.
It seemed as if an eternity had passed before anything was said, she looked up instinctively at him, her sobbing had subsided to random, stifled cries, through wet, puffy eyes, and asked, “What now?”  Before burying her head once more in his arms to try and stifle another cry.
Looking up towards the sky, he saw ravens and buzzards gathering, and flying overhead knowing they were waiting for them to clear away so they could gorge on their buffet of human flesh not but about a couple hundred yards away.
“We move on. When we reach the next town, if they haven’t gotten there yet we gather supplies, and head to the safe zone.”
He had said all of this without looking at her, purposely avoiding her eyes, but watching the forest around him so as to make sure there were none coming for them.
Cierra stood slowly, her body still shaking from the outburst, and took in the surroundings around her.
The creek on her right babbling silently to itself, not a care in the world, while the ravens and buzzards cawed, waiting to touch down to begin their feast on the deceased and dying. The clouds overhang cast a gloomy shadow on the entire forest, giving off a demonic vibe, which seemed to be distorting the proportions of the space in which they had ran from. The winds warm, yet unnerving, wafted a breeze, smelling of the carnage they had witnessed, towards them, making them both gag considerably.
“If we’re going to get moving, there’s no time like the present.” she said, voice faltering on the last word.
“Are you sure you’re up to it yet?” Jeremy asked, hoping the answer was yes. He hated being so close to such a gruesome scene of murder and the stench was beginning to cloud his vision.
“No, but I will have to manage, come on.” She began to head East at a brisk walk, towards Signet City.
Jeremy scrambling to his feet, hastily caught up with her, catching his foot on a root and almost falling over while rushing,
 “We will get through this.”
Sparing one glance behind them towards the scavengers in the sky he was met with unsettling surprise, which turned to horror mounted over his face to see the last of the birds flying towards the spot where they had just ran from. “They’re coming already...” He muttered under his breath before turning back to Cierra.
“We should speed up a little…. just in case you know?” Cierra nodded her head in agreement, both speeding up to a slight jog, but neither saying anything.
